The 2005 legislative session began at 2:30 pm, January 10, 2005. My colleagues and I were sworn into office by the Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice and quickly elected new leadership for the upcoming session. President of the Senate is Steve Morris (R-Hugoton), Vice President is John Vratil (R-Overland Park), and Majority Leader is Derek Schmidt (R-Independence).
