Chairperson LaTurner open the hearing on SB 86.

Doug Anstaett supports the language in SB 86 because it will finally place statutory limits on what can be charged for access by the public and press to the records of what government is doing.(Attachment  15)

Maxwell Kautsch agrees with the testimony of Doug Anstaett.(Attachment  16)

James Franko is a supporter of SB 86 and a strong supporter for making Kansas government more transparent and open.(Attachment  17)

Kent Cornish stated that SB 86 allows for a more uniform way of charging for record requests.(Attachment  18)

Dena Sattler gave written testimony supporting SB 86.(Attachment  19)

Melissa Wangemann opposes SB 86.  She believes the real problem besmirching open government is lack of enforcement.(Attachment  20)

Eric Smith opposes SB 86 .  Mandating the fees cities can charge for open records requests not only erodes local control, but it creates an unfunded mandate on local governments.(Attachment  21)
