Chairperson Bowers opened the hearing on HB2006. Mike Heim, staff revisor, provided a briefing on the bill.
Senator Ed Berger testified in support of HB2006. Senator Berger explained an amendment indicating that it would allow the election to be held at the next regularly scheduled election. (Attachment 1)
Staff distributed Senator Berger's amendment. (Attachment 2)
After questions by the Committee were addressed, the hearing continued.
Melissa Wangemann testified in support of HB2006. Ms. Wangemann stated that the bill addresses a situation that arose in Saline County a couple of years ago. (Attachment 3)
Questions from the Committee were addressed by staff, Ms. Wangemann, and Bryan Caskey, Director of Elections, Kansas Secretary of State's Office.
Chairperson Bowers closed the hearing on HB2006.
