Vice Chairman Bollier opened the Update on HB2031.

Dr. Robert Moser gave testimony in favor of HB2031. He believes an Advisory Council for Palliative Care in Kansas would be of great value by creating a central consumer and professional information program to help families and health care providers understand the benefits and opportunities available through palliative care. (Attachment 1)

Gerri Sopyla testified in favor of HB2031. She shared her experience as a recipient of palliative care in dealing with cancer and a stem cell transplant.  (Attachment 2)

Hilary Gee presented testimony in support of HB2031. She stated that the creation of a state advisory council on palliative care will bring together experts to identify challenges to palliative care delivery and innovative solutions to address the needs of families across the state. (Attachment 3)

Questions were posed by committee members.
