Adopting the Driver's Privacy Protection Act.

The Chairman recognized Michael Wells as the proponent to this bill. (Attachment 1) According to Mr. Wells, he is responsible for acquiring motor vehicle and title information in Kansas for P.L.Polk & Company, a wholly owned legal entity of IHS Markit. He said R.L. Polk & Company obtains vehicle title and registration records in all United States and Canadian jurisdictions.  Their services include:  Safety recall and important vehicle advisories; CARFAX vehicle history reporting; Market planning for product and parts availability; Statistical reporting to support automotive dealers and manufacturers; and Support of local, state and federal government.  After all questions were answered the Chairman asked if there were any other proponents, neutrals or opponents desiring to speak.  There were none so the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2179 and opened the hearing on HB2126.
