Chairperson Concannon called for final action on HB2228, concerning child care facilities. Representative Mastroni made a motion to pass the bill favorably. Representative Neighbors seconded it.
Representative Mastroni made a motion to amend HB2228 in two places. (Attachment 6). In Part A, the initial fine will be $500 and any continuing violations will accumulate at $100/day for every day of the continuing violations. Representative Humphries seconded this part of the motion. It passed 8-4.
In Part B of the amendment, the initial fine will be reduced from $1000 to $500 and any continuing violations will accumulate at $100/day for every day of the continuing violations. Representative Neighbors seconded this part of the motion. It passed 9-2.
After extensive discussion, Representative Rhiley motioned to table the bill. Representative Garber seconded. It was voted 7-6 to table the bill until a future date.
