Chairperson Kerschen opened the hearing on SB307.
Tamera Lawrence of the Revisor of Statutes Office explained the bill.
Jason Ott testified in favor of the bill. He explained that this bill is an update to the K.S.A. Statute 32-1129 sets out specific types of flotation devices to be used by individuals under the age of 12. Because boating laws are administrated by the United States Coast Guard and as such driven by federal law, the Kansas Statute must be changed to reflect with standards set by the Coast Guard for flotation devices used by individuals under the age of 12. That is what this bill does.(Attachment 1)
