Commissioner Lacey Cruse testified on behalf of The Board of County Commissioners in Sedgwick County in support of SB 53. Ms. Cruse summarized the bill's purpose as to establish a charter commission and correct a gap inadvertently left open by the Kansas legislature when it granted Sedgwick County urban status during 2018. The current law forces the Sedgwick charter commission to only have Johnson County members instead of Sedgwick County members and stakeholders.
