Authorizing legislative assistants and committee assistants to accept gifts of not to exceed $150 in value each legislative session from certain legislators.

Chairperson Carpenter asked for the will of the Committee on HB2052.

Following discussion, Revisor Heim suggested revising the amendment to read: ". . . each legislator shall report the amount of money, if any, given by such legislator as a gift . . ."

Representative Michael Dodson moved, seconded by Representative Charles Smith to adopt the balloon amendment for HB2052 with the updated language.  Motion passed.

Representative Pat Proctor moved, seconded by Representative Tatum Lee-Hahn, to reinsert the $150 limit in this bill.  Motion passed.

Representative Emil Bergquist moved, seconded by Representative Jesse Borjon, to amend the limit in this bill from $150 to $500.  Motion passed.

After further discussion among Committee members, Revisor Heim, Mr. Day, and Mark Skoglund, Executive Director, Governmental Ethics Commission, Representative Neighbor moved, seconded by Representative Dodson, HB2052 be passed as amended.  Motion passed.

The meeting adjourned at 4:24 p.m.
