Chairperson Hilderbrand opened the hearing on HB2279.
Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.
Jennifer Caswell testified as a proponent of HB2279. She stated that the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact, or PTLC, is a state-based solution to the challenges of interstate licensure portability for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. It improves patient access, helps meet workforce needs, provides greater consumer access to specialty physical therapy care and addresses licensure portability issues. (Attachment 7)
Stacia Troshynski Brown, in her proponent testimony stated that joining the PTLC just makes sense. Joining the PTLC keeps state-educated therapists right where they belong, impacting the health of Kansans. It supports the military members and their families who sacrifice for the country and supports access to healthcare for often-forgotten rural areas. It also improves efficiencies in the regulatory system. (Attachment 8)
