Jason Thompson gave a bill brief of HB2076 stating that this bill clarifies that bond agents are required to return certain people released on bond to the court in the county where the complaint was filed. The House Committee on Judiciary added a subsection that defines "custodial officer of the court" to be the sheriff or the keeper of the jail in the county.(Attachment 4)

Adam Proffitt submitted the fiscal note for HB2076. (Attachment 5)

Jeff Easter spoke in support of HB2076 stating that the language change is needed so that a person under bond is returned to the custodial officer of the court that issued the warrant. This saves the sheriff's office the expense from traveling across the state to retrieve a person turned in at a different jurisdiction. (Attachment 6)

Shane Rolf spoke in support of HB2076 stating that the bill is good, but there are times when a bondsman might need to surrender a defendant in a different location because of aggressive behavior of the defendant or other threats against the bondsman. (Attachment 7)

There was discussion.

There was neither neutral nor opponent testimony.

The hearing was closed.
