Chairperson Patton opened the hearing on HB2451. David Wiese provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1) He stood for questions.
Proponent
Jeff Chanay testified for the Attorney's General's Office in support of HB2451. Mr. Chanay provided much detail regarding history behind the bill and provided a overview during his in person testimony. It is clearly written in his attached testimony. (Attachment 2) Mr. Chanay also stated the bill is the carefully negotiated product of several years of discussions among many parties, including the Office of Attorney General, other states, and participating tobacco manufacturers. Mr. Chanay stated changes to the language of the bill would negate the negotiated agreement. Therefore, they recommend and request its passage without amendments. Mr. Chanay thanked the membership and stood for numerous questions.
Chairperson Patton asked for any additional conferees either that were present or on-line. There were none.
