Chairperson Williams opened the hearing on HB 2514

Nick Myers, Revisor from the Kansas Office of Revisor of Statues, reviewed HB 2514 bill brief with the Committee. (Attachment 4)

Mr. Myers took questions from the Committee.

Chairperson Williams noted to the Committee that the Fiscal Note has been received for HB 2514.

Madeline Ashour, Deputy Legislative Director from ExcelinEd in Action, spoke in support of HB 2514. She noted that the bill would be a win for public schools and a win for families.  She noted that the part-time enrollment policy would empower families to engage with public schools on their own terms.  (Attachment 5)

Craig Neuenswander, Deputy Commissioner of Fiscal and Administrative Services from the Kansas State Department of Education, responded to several questions.
