Staff briefed the Committee on the contents of the bill. (Attachment 6)
The Chairman recognized Anita Dixon. (Attachment 7) She said this House Bill is for her son, Sgt. Evan S. Parker. She said her son received the Bronze Star for his Meritorious Service in a War Zone, second Purple Heart and other high Meritorious Army Achievement Service medals.She said Evan was born in Wichita and was raised and graduated in South Haven. Evan then went on to join the US Army and served his country until his death in a war zone, Operation Iraq Freedom in 2005. She said this portion of Highway 166 and 81 is the location of six plus Kansas generations of their family.
Chairman Proehl and other members of the Committee thanked her for her family's sacrifice.
There were no other proponent, opponents or neutrals so the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2478 and opened the hearing on HB2483.
