The Chairman opened the meeting on the bill and called on Jason Long for a Revisor of Statutes review of the bill. Mr. Long explained that the bill would place in statute the designated day every year going forward.

Proponent Senator Pittman expressed his support for such an important historical figure.

Proponent Mary Ann Brown shared the history that she believes justifies such recognition of Susan B. Anthony.

Proponent Alisa Murphy appeared at the podium with her daughter to express her strong support for the bill. Ms. Murphy accredited the woman's right to vote being a result of the courage and efforts of a few leaders like Susan B. Anthony. During the testimony it was pointed out that the current Ranking Minority Member Oletha Faust-Goudeau was the first African American woman state senator in the Kansas State Legislature.
