Chair Rahjes noted that the meeting scheduled for February 9, 2022 had been canceled and the hearing on HB2531 would be held the following week.

Chairperson Rahjes opened the hearing on HB2563.

Kyle Hamilton, Revisors Office, provided an overview of the bill.  He noted the bill amends three acts and described the changes.  He stood for questions.

PROPONENTS

Jeff Vogel, Program Manager, Plant Protection and Weed Control, Kansas Department of Agriculture, provided oral testimony.  He note that a new section would provide seed label protection, a new  category for noxious weeds, eliminate some fees and certification for certain growers and provided clean up on the commercial hemp act.  He stood for questions.(Attachment 1)

Written testimony was provided by Shahira Stafford, Kansas Cooperative Council.(Attachment 2)
