Chairperson Johnson opened the hearing on HB2639.

David Wiese, Assistant Revisor, Office of Revisor of Statutes, gave an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment9)

Vice Chairperson Croft moved to proponent testimony:

Representative Jo Ella Hoye, Kansas House of Representatives, testified there is something that we, as state legislators, can do to help address the workforce shortage crisis impacting public employers. We can make temporary changes to the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) waiting period as an effort to expand the public workforce. Representative Hoye stood for questions. (Attachment10)

Alan Conroy, Kansas Public Employee Retirement System (KPERS), Executive Director, provided information on the statutory rules regarding retirees returning to work for a KPERS employer in a covered postion. (Attachment11)

Written Proponent Testimony:

Timothy R. Graham, Director of Government Relations & Coalitions, provided written testimony on HB2639. (Attachment12)

Ed Klumpp, Legislative Liaison, Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP), Kansas Sheriff's Association (KSA) and Kansas Police Officer's Association (KPOA) provided written testimony on HB2639. (Attachment13)
