The Chairman opened the hearing and called upon Jason Long for a revisor overview of the bill.

The Chairman called for testimony on the bill.

Proponent Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes called for a uniform structure to support 2018 legislation to aide in the protection of families and children.

Proponent Rep Jo Ella Hoye pointed out that there is no stream-lined process for law enforcement to help support the intentions of the law.

Proponent Senator Holscher asserted that the bill not only supports women, but also provides protection for law enforcement.

Proponent Lindsie Ford emphasized the bill could remove the immediate and long-term potential d angers to domestic violence victims. Ms. Ford provided an update in the number deaths that have occurred since the beginning of the year concerning domestic violence related deaths. (Attachment 5)

Proponent Leanna Barclay declared that the bill would solve the lack of accountability of current statute.

Proponent LaTonya Boyd witnessed the circumstances surrounding the domestic violence related death of her 21-year-old daughter, Tyesha McNair.

Opponent Sheriff Jeff Easter pointed out problem provisions in the bill for law enforcement implementation and in conflict with current court rulings and statutes.
