Jason Thompson briefed the committee on SB 42 , which clarifies criminal sentencing provisions for certain persons subject to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment and adds language to each provision to create consistency regarding eligibility for parole and application of good time credits, and prohibit any other sentence.
Melissa Johnson, an Assistant Attorney General, voiced support of SB 42 (Attachment 10) saying that it clarifies what they believe was the legislators intent, at the time the statutes were previously amended.
Chairman Wilborn referred the Committee to Kim Parker's written testimony (Attachment 11) in support of the bill and asked for questions; seeing none, he closed the hearing on SB 42.
