Mike Heim, Senior Assistant Revisor, provided a briefing on HB2225.

There being no questions for Mr. Heim, Representative Esau, Chair, opened the hearing on HB2225.

Representative Brett Parker, House Elections Committee, provided testimony in favor of HB2225, regarding permanent advanced voting status (Attachment 12).

Representative Parker answered questions from the Committee.

Written only testimonies in favor of HB2225 were provided by the following:

Nancy McCarter, Pottawatomie County Clerk and Election Official, Westmoreland, Kansas (Attachment 13).

Sonya L. Stohs, Marshall County Clerk and Election Official, Marysville, Kansas (Attachment 14).

There being no other proponents, Bryan Caskey, Director of Elections, Kansas Secretary of State's Office, provided testimony in opposition to HB2225 (Attachment 15).

Mr. Caskey answered questions from the Committee.

Andrew Howell, Shawnee County Election Commissioner, Topeka, Kansas, provided testimony in opposition to HB2225 (Attachment 16).

Mr. Howell and Mr. Caskey answered questions from the Committee.

There were no further testimonies in opposition to HB2225.

Marge Ahrens, Co-President, League of Women Voters of Kansas, provided testimony, originally neutral, in favor of HB2225, emphasizing that responding to what the citizens of Kansas want is imperative (Attachment 17).

Ms. Ahrens answered questions from the Committee.

Mr. Caskey answered further questions from the Committee.

There being no further questions, Representative Esau, Chair, closed the hearing on HB2225.
