Staff explained the bill to the Committee. Chairman Proehl recognized Brian Spencer. (Attachment 7) Mr. Spencer explained the reasoning behind this bill. He said like most other school districts they apply for reimbursement of Motor Fuel Tax on school related vehicles. He said they use as small of a vehicle as possible to transport students. He said they were very surprised when they were denied the claim submitted for reimbursement of motor fuel tax by the Department of Revenue. He encouraged the Committee to provide Motor Fuel Tax relief to public schools as has been past practice.
The Chairman asked if there were other proponents, neutrals or opponents. There were none. After all questions were answered the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2214 and called for Final Action on HB2070.
