Chairperson Landwehr opened the hearing on SB61.

Scott McKenzie, Executive Secretary of the Kansas Podiatric Medical Association, provided testimony that SB61 a "grandfather" clause to a Kansas statute that requires podiatrists to have had a 3 year residency in order to do rear foot and ankle surgeries. The residency program was not in existence prior to 2007 and older physicians who began practice before then (Attachment 2).
