Chairperson Kerschen opened the hearing on SB27.
Tamera Lawrence with the Revisor of Statutes Office explained the bill.
Tom Palace testified in support of the bill. He explained to the committee that the bill extends the sunset provisions in the Underground Storage Tank Act and increases reimbursement to qualifying facility owners. It also makes it clear that the fee funds collected are deposited into the storage tank fee fund.(Attachment 1)
Sharon Morgan spoke in favor of the bill. As proposed, she believes that this bill amends the Kansas Storage Tank Act as necessary to ensure the Kansas Department of Health and Environment can continue to manage the Storage Tanks Program effectively now and in the future. (Attachment 2)
