Chairperson Blake Carpenter opened discussion on HB2051 and called on Mike Heim, Office of Revisor of Statutes, to give an overview of the bill. Revisor Heim answered questions from the Committee.
Representative Emil Bergquist moved, seconded by Representative Mike Dodson, HB2051 be passed.
Chairperson Carpenter moved, seconded by Representative Bergquist, a substitute conceptual motion to amend HB2051, by adopting the proposed balloon amendment (Attachment 1) and changing committeeman and committeewoman to state delegate.
Discussion and comments were made by Committee members, Katie Koupal, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Communications and Policy, and Bryan Casky, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Elections Director.
Representative Tatum Lee-Hahn called the question on the amendment. Motion failed.
Representative Vic Miller called for point of order.
Representative Carpenter closed on his conceptual motion to amend HB2051.
Motion passed with Chairperson Carpenter breaking the tie.
Representative Cindy Neighbor moved to table working on HB2051 until Tuesday, February 16. Motion passed.
