Minutes for SB295 - Committee on Public Health and Welfare

Short Title

Giving counties the authority to adopt prioritized COVID-10 vaccination plans separate from state guidelines.

Minutes Content for Mon, Mar 15, 2021

Chairperson Hilderbrand opened the hearing on SB295.

Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.

Jim Howell testified as a proponent of SB295 stating that he believes that the state needs to reconsider their misguided position or allow the counties to make choices for their own populations. He added that other states are allowing those with significant underlying health conditions to receive the vaccine along with the elderly. He stated that if this bill were to become law on July 1, 2021 and expire on December 31, 2021 the natural rollout of the plan would likely provide vaccinations for Phase III before that. However, he added that this is a principle matter and he appreciated the chance to advocate for a more common sense policy. (Attachment 3)
