Chairperson Longbine opened the meeting and greeted the members, staff, and guests. He opened the hearing on HB2089 and called upon Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, Kansas Revisor of Statutes Office (ROS), for her Memorandum brief on the bill. Ms. Ma told members that this bill is identical to SB17, which the Committee passed with favorable recommendation on February 2, 2023. (Attachment 1)
Eric Turek, Director, Government and Public Affairs, Kansas Insurance Department (KID), presented testimony supporting this bill. He told members that it had passed the House by a vote of 123 to 0. (Attachment 2)
Seeing no questions or further discussion, and no other proponent, opponent, or neutral testimony was submitted, Chairperson Longbine closed the hearing on HB2089, and opened the hearing on HB2090.
