Minutes Content for Tue, Feb 7, 2023

The Revisor briefed the Committee on the contents of HB2210(Attachment 2) and stood for questions.

The Chairman recognized MAJ Kari Beth Neuhold as the proponent for this bill. (Attachment 3)  According to MAJ Neuhold the current statute states that appointment of general officers shall be subject to confirmation by the Kansas Senate. She said among other issues, confirmation by the Senate results in delays to general officer promotions in the state. She said this unnecessary delay impacts future promotions and assignments.  Representative Dodson asked if an amendment would clarify the promotions would be to Brigadier General. MAJ Neuhold thought that would be appropriate. She stood for questions.

The Chairman asked if there were any other proponents or opponents or neutrals.  There were none;

After all questions were answered the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2210 and opened the hearing on HB2211.
